Since 1986, PastryStar has specialized in manufacturing high end, natural pastry and bakery ingredients. This history of excellence originated in St. Denis, France by the Picou family in 1865.

Today, PastryStar manufactures over 200 different products, which can be found in a wide variety of establishments including fine dining, major grocery chains, cruise lines, and more.

PastryStar is located in Laurel, MD. Since 1986, the company has been manufacturing high quality, clean-label bakery ingredients (such as powder mixes and baking fruit jams and fillings). Our core customers are industrial bakeries, in-store bakeries, and cruise lines.

Account Manager

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic Account Manager to act as our customer facing product representatives.

Your role will be to seek new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with potential customers, understanding their needs, meeting with them, and advising them on how our products can work for them.

We are looking to build a strong sales team to specifically work within each vertical we serve.

For this position, you will be developing leads from our offices in Laurel, MD and assigned a vertical to manage (either Industrial or In-store bakery). You will use your communication skills to cultivate relationships with customers and travel to see them between 25 and 50% of the time.

Your job includes managing current accounts as well as finding new customers

- Growing current business: Manage and grow current accounts in a given sector making sure that our products are working well for them, that they are aware of our new products, and giving them ideas on new concepts that might work for them

- Generating new business:

  1. Lead generation
    1. Creating a list of target customers
    2. Finding key decision makers within the targeted customers
  2. Lead qualification
    1. Creating targeted emails to initiate contact with leads
    2. Follow up phone conversations to determine customers’ needs
    3. Sending samples, setting up meetings and demos
  3. Closing leads and attaining new customers

The requirements:

  • Knowledge of CRM systems (salesforce) and excel
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and charismatic
  • Good at mental math
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in bakery, pastry, and ingredient sales (pastry Chef or Baker is a plus)

This is a full-time position with a competitive base salary + performance-based bonuses.
